We couldn’t wait to attend last nights magical performance by 89 year old, Ravi Shankar with his daughter, Anoushka Shankar here in San Francisco. An amazing evening… Thank you.

His eldest daughter does quite well in the music world too and has a new album coming out on November 17,2009.

The Land Of Plenty: The 2009 Great Skate Giveaway

THE 2009 GREAT SKATE GIVEAWAY

THE LAND OF PLENTY has been around since 2002, and in that time they have given away hundreds of skateboards to skaters in need. Their primary program is The Board Exchange: they ask participating kids to paint a blank skateboard for the collection in return for a new deck of their own. LOP then sells these hand-painted boards to raise funds.

As it turns out, they amassed a large amount of these painted boards, and have decided to clean house. In the next two weeks they will be donating 200 hand-painted skateboard decks to skaters around the world. For this, they are asking only one thing: they need donation money to ship these boards. If you believe in the LOP, if you have ever wanted to help out, if you have ever wanted to contribute to help get skateboard equipment to children in challenged situations, this is your chance. They don’t need product, thety don’t need your time, they don’t need you to buy anything from them. All LOP needs is to raise a few hundred dollars to ship these boards to skaters in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hawaii, Apache Country, New York, Pakistan, and Thailand.

Kenny Brimer & Bad Brains

Kenny’s been going through his weekly treatment of chemotherapy and handling it well. Most importantly, he’s keeping his spirits high. A few weeks back, he went in for some check-ups and was asked to increase the level of his chemo treatment. We hope it’s working, man and thank you all for the continued financial support through your donations.

Rubies, "Explode From The Center"

Simone Rubi of the Rubies blessed us with a visit a short while back with Nat Russell and Dan Judd (Windsurf). We immersed ourselves into a copy of , “Explode From The Center” (iTunes), that Simone signed for us. I remembered to bring it back into the studio today to scan the inner-sleeve of the CD dust jacket to share this gem of an album with you.

The Rubies have a West Coast tour in the works starting in Los Angeles, November 10, 2009 (venue TBA).
