Kyle Field x Rad Records Completes
Our good friend, Kyle Field (Little Wings) has a new album out called, "Black Grass". He's playing tonight and celebrating this release at Park Life for the third opening of his on-going art show. Curtis at Marriage Records sent 3 different RAD Records decks (Kyle's own label... decks are the same awesome shape and size with different graphics) for the Solitary Arts to build as completes. We have only a few of these beauties with artwork by Kyle Field (two of them) and one by Nat Russell. Check out the Solitary Arts Mini Skate Shop to purchase a complete... The decks are available directly from Marriage/RAD Records while supplies last.
Black Grass is available on vinyl, cd and at iTunes

Park 94124: The Dish in SF, This Saturday, March 5, 2011
Thanks to the efforts of Park 94124, there will be a clean-up at the Dish (Whitney Young Circle @ Hudson) in San Francisco this Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 10AM - Noon. Get the full-scoop on their site. Civic-duty calls so Bob Lake, in an effort to breathe-life back into this spot has been working alongside various neighborhood park organizations to get sessions started here again. Share in his community pride and help in the revival of the Dish's skate-heritage. He'll be there, rain or shine to lend a hand and to get a session going.
Thanks to Tommy Guerrero for posting it up on the DLX and Thrasher site and for shredding it here over the past few decades.

EZ RYDER is 100% Skateboarding!
Geoff McFetridge and I want to thank both Jef Hartsel and Jay Adams for their love and support!
EZ Ryder skateboards are what we dig here at the Solitary Arts! They make the best handmade boards in our opinion and rightfully so with the history both Hartsel and Adams bring forth with their 35 years of dedication and passion for skateboarding.
Hartsel had a session recently with Chad Hiyakumoto and Jordan DeOliveira back on the islands. Thanks, guys! Tons of amazing photos from Hartsel so check the entire posting on the EZ Ryder blog page as it's both humbling and stoke-filled, all at once. Read the rest of the blog as well as it's some of the best vibes you're going to get from a skateboarding website.
Congratulations to Jef and Eri!
Welcome, Nainao Kenneth-Zen Hartsell!

Taking a STANCE with Ryan Kingman
OG Hawaii skater, Ryan Kingman probably needs no introduction in this world of skateboarding as he developed the Element team in the early days and grew the company through his marketing savvy to where it's at before starting his very own brand just last year. The untapped market of socks is now firmly in the hands of Ryan. With a single product offering, the best quality, creative output and comfort are of importance and it shows with the box of socks that he just sent our way. Mahalo!
There are three parts up on The Berrics site as of today. Watch, appreciate and support STANCE.

Hickam Hanger Days - 88'-91'
The Hickham Hanger on the island of Oahu was a spot that most skaters went to at some point in the late 80's and 90's before it became the skatepark it is today. Most of us had already made friends through skateboarding to obtain guest-passes to gain entry into the Air Force base (or we'd climb through holes made in the fence... not happening these days). We would bring launch ramps and skate the few things that were hauled-in or hammered under the leaking roof that hosted heated Friday and Saturday night sessions. We'd see everyone that ripped in Hawaii come through. Eventually, a 10ft vert ramp, initially made for a pro-demo on the soccer fields outside of Pearl Harbor was brought-in to the hanger. Rich Nickla took photos of some of Hawaii's finest and they've recently surfaced... 1988-1991 or so...
Left to right, starting with a sitting Craig Pratt (blue shirt), Kenny Brimer on the chair next to him, Rene Matthyssen's back and a young Shawn Naone (green shirt).

John Bala, big fs nosebone on the 10ft vert ramp.
Rene Matthyssen, Madonna. Rene just got some well-deserved Chrome Ball Incident love too...
Rob Carlyon, melon to fakie.
Craig Pratt, fs crail-snatch.
Jared Bush... fs tail-grab.
