It Takes All This To Be Me: Kenton Parker
Kenton Parker, one of the rad folks we had the pleasure of working with while down in Culver City, has as solo offering on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 7-11PM at Primary Projects in Miami, Florida.
Thanks for all of your help, Kent! We wish you the best for your opening...
Jef Hartsel in California
Jef Hartsel flew into San Francisco and within hours of his arrival at 6AM, we embarked on a hardy breakfast, skated two spots and spent a few hours at the Solitary Arts office. Hartsel built some setups and outside around the corner, he spotted this jukebox on the street! I'm a huge fan of the ol' 45 rpm/7" players but this one was left for the next fortunate soul...
We met-up with Bob Lake, Aaron Hazelwood, Chane Wilson and Scott McPherson in the Sunset district of San Francisco for an afternoon sesh in the bird-bath (first time for Harts!). I made a quick video edit with Bob Lake and Jef Hartsel, below.
Igloo Store
Gary Benzel's online shop, Igloo Store has a good selection of exclusive Solitary Arts goods. Check it out along with everything else that is finely curated by Gary.
Ferris Plock at The Shooting Gallery in San Francisco
Ferris Plock has a show coming-up at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco this Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 7-11PM called, "Just For One Day."

Isaac McKay-Randozzi and the Solitary Arts Family Roadtrip
I don't much believe in the hoo-doo of most popular religions of the world but sometimes just sometimes I think signs do appear to us if we pay attention. The sunglasses in the shadows meant shit was going to be cool on this trip with the Solitary Arts on their first ever mission. Hours later, I'm still in stupification of what an experience it was. Thank you!
Due to some lap top issues - mine is full and broken, I was unable to blog from the road as planned.
Sorry.

Meeting of the Solitarians. Bob, Jef and Yong-Ki (l-r).
Packing Bob's van aka the Mule. Jef Hartsel loads up a box of display items with an energy that lasted all trip. Dude was all smiles.
Bob Lake, driver, pool madman and fellow bearded creep assesses the situation of his Vanagon.
Yong-Ki and Hartsel talk about shapes of the soon to come pro boards for Bob and him.
Rest stop find.
R. Kelly inspired pee-pee art.
We pulled into LA, checked into the hotel then hit a local Indian spot for some good food. Jerky gives me the winds.
LA.
Bob checks out one of Jef's set-ups. Even after 3 decades of skating bob is still a kid.
My office, before I realized my computer is utter poop and I need something made after 2003. At least I don't have any flat spots.
Chillin' in the hotel room, thanks Scion!
The next day we hit the gallery and started to get organized, the Quiet Life was right next to use, stoked!!!
The theme of the show was passion projects. Endeavors of artists who do something outside their regular jobs in the industry. The items they have created and that were showcased came from their hearts. Axes to the heart.
Hartsel scopes out the layout.
Bob cuts some paper for layout use.
Quiet Life display items.
Outside I saw this guy.

"A Product Of Design" Booklet
We had a great time down in Los Angeles for almost a week of installation-work for A Product Of Design show at SCION Installation LA with approximately 750 folks in attendance on opening night (Sept 17th - Oct 8). Christopher and Kathleen Sleboda (curators) invited the Solitary Arts family to participate, along with a gang of amazing people who make amazing product. They also created a booklet for the opening through their own company, Gluekit of everyone that was invited for the show. Thanks to the Sleboda's for their constant support as we couldn't have done anything without them. Below is the first designed item for the show, made by Gluekit.
I'll be posting photos and stories from our journey with Jef Hartsel, Bob Lake, Isaac McKay-Randozzi and myself, next week, of our skateboarding/art adventures while down in LA.

Mahalo to Sean Kelling for making the, "Lenny Blaze" t-shirt and sending a batch my way. These shirts are in memory of Kenny Brimer, aka "Lenny Blaze."
